Dark Light

Double is an investigation of the communication between the two players that peform the work. The piano is prepared with hair from the bow of a string instrument in order to ‘bow’ notes and create the possibility to double notes with the violin. The piano-part isn’t very ‘pianistic’ and can be played by a percussionist as well. In the climax of the piece, the pianist grabs a mallet and a fast percussive reacting between the violinst and the pianist takes place. These theatrical gestures are written down in the score.
